It will be difficult to distinguish 'near miss' from 'shot to someone else behind you'. I propose, that DEV's just add two different 'hit' visual effects: one as 'hit', and other to look like a ricochet, for example.

Yes, spaceships behaving like aircraft look a bit weird. And unrealistic, unless they have very strange manoeuvring thrusters / gyros combination - only two pairs of thrusters for pitch and gyros for roll only.
